When will nightclubs reopen?
It’s been a long 16 months since nightclubs closed down, but finally, we are moving closer to clubs flinging open their doors and welcoming the public back onto their dance floors. But when exactly can we expect this to happen? Delayed from the original date of 21st June, clubs are now expected to reopen on 19th July, when the UK reaches the much talked about ‘freedom day’.
The reopening of nightclubs follows a series of successful COVID-19 test events, where 58,000 people took part in a range of events from football matches to festivals, with only 15 positive COVID-19 cases throughout.
The Brit Awards
The Brit Awards took place this year with no masks and mingling allowed between tables, whilst an outdoor music festival in Sefton Park in Liverpool only produced two COVID cases out of a festival of 5,900. When 6,000 revellers packed into a Liverpool nightclub across two days, only nine cases were confirmed across the event.
Sporting Events
Whilst some major sporting events with mass audiences such as the Euros 2020 and Royal Ascot have continued to take place, nightclubs were forced to close their doors in March 2020, devastating a lot of the hospitality industry. But, listings are now being populated, reopening nights organised, and DJs getting booked as the countdown to the 19th July begins.
As a celebrity DJ booking agency, we are always working closely with nightclubs across the UK and globally - so what can we expect when nightclubs do finally reopen?
Will you be required to have a COVID test before attending a nightclub?
Michael Gove, the Cabinet Minister who is leading the review, has stated that COVID tests won’t be required as they would be too much of a burden on the general public and the hospitality industry.
Will you be required to have a vaccine passport to attend a nightclub?
Vaccine passports will not be mandatory to attend a nightclub.
Will you still be required to wear a face mask to attend a nightclub?
Debates are still continuing about whether we will need to wear masks after July 19th, but it is looking promising that masks may no longer be mandatory and moving forward will be a voluntary measure.
When will the top UK nightclubs be reopening this summer?
